What We Believe
Our overall approach to Scripture is reflected in the statement:
"In essentials unity, In non-essentials liberty, and in all things love."
At New Hope we consider ourselves to be authentic, reformed and evangelical.
Authentic, because we believe the orthodox truths handed down through the centuries. We believe that truth exists (though sometimes we struggle with what that truth is) and when we speak the words of the creed, we actually believe what we are saying.
Reformed, because, like Jan Huss and Martin Luther, we believe in the "solas" of the reformation.
Sola Scriptura, by scripture alone
Sola Fide, by faith alone
Sola Gratia, by grace alone
Solus Christus, through Christ alone
Soli Deo Gloria, for the glory of God alone
Evangelical, because as disciples of Jesus we want to obey Christ's instruction to "Go and make new disciples".
